Apples and Pears Compote

Compote Pommes-Poire

This delicious dessert is easy, quick and it is a great way to use up well ripe apples and pears.
This compote is also used for apples or fruits tarts, in this case only use apples because the pears can be too juicy.

Ingredients

4 or 5 apples, peeled, cored and chopped (I tried to mix different apples, Granny Smith, Pink Lady…)
2 or 3 pears, peeled, cored and chopped
2 tablespoon of caster sugar
a pinch of ground nutmeg or one stick
½ tablespoon of butter

  1. Place the butter in a saucepan and let it start to melt.
  2. Add apples, pears, sugar and nutmeg.
  3. Cook the fruits to a compote, stirring from time to time for approx.32minutes on moderate heat.
  4. It the compote seems too runny, leave to reduce until you have a thick texture.
  5. Place the compote into a blender and blend to a fine puree.
  6. Serve with plain yogurt or Vanilla Ice cream

Serve warm or cold
This compote is used for apples or fruits tarts, in this case only use apples because the pears can be too juicy.

You can add any well ripe fruits to this compote and create interesting cocktails, (Banana, Kiwi, Strawberries, prunes….)
