Potatoes married to Bacon

for 6 people

6/8 potatoes
2 big brown onions
300g of lean bacon sliced finely
50g Butter
200g of creme fraiche
Salt and Pepper
Grated cheese ( Cheddar or gruyere or Jalsberg)




Cut the potatoes in very fine slices (1/2 cm)
Cut the onions in very fine slices


In a oven proof tin :

  1. Butter the inside of the tin.
  2. Cover the bottom with one layer of potatoes  (make sure they overlap a little bit ).
  3. Cover the potatoes with a layer of onions.
  4. Then a layer of potatoes.
  5. Then add all the bacon evenly. 
  6. Cover the bacon with the creme fraiche.
  7. Layer the onions again and then the last layer of potatoes.
  8. Cover with grated cheese.
  9. Few nuts of butter on the top.

And hop! in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes
Then  low down the over to 175 for 1h.
